Hike The Cape Blow Me Down Trail

The Cape Blow Me Down Trail, formerly known as the Copper Mine Trail, and also as the Blow-Me-Down Mountain Trail is at the top of my list of favorite trails in Newfoundland with its combination of ocean and mountains. It is located on the West Coast of Newfoundland, about 45 minutes Southwest of Corner Brook and offers a nice mountain climbing experience (you climb up for 2 hrs, and then you climb down), no technical mountain climbing skills are required, and has great views of the beautiful Bay of Islands. Check out the pics below for more information.

Trailhead: 49.061819, -58.305261

The Cape Blow Me Down Trail is a very "BCish" trail, mountains + ocean.

This is near the parking lot to the Blow-Me-Down Nature trail which I hiked several years ago. It was a rugged, but spectacular hike.

The night before we stayed at Blow Me Down Provincial Park, it was great (note, don't get campsite #1, it is near the shower house that has a very loud fan). The park ranger told us that 6 geologists encountered the bear and cub a few days before we arrive, 2 of them ran down the hill and left the other 4 up there; he then made jokes that I cannot repeat here.

The second half becomes more difficult, expect to take lots of breaks.
The first half was easier than the second half.

T'is a big ol' hill to climb.

Some of the sections had rope, the trail had a lot of loose rocks here.

The views keep getting better.

The IATNL has a trail that goes across the Lewis Hills, it has officially been placed on my bucket list.
